Sp1 Community - Building Retreats

It is increasingly difficult for parishes to find time for ‘spiritual’ refreshment together. CCR are delighted to offer Parish-based retreats - a series of ‘time out’ days of prayer and reflection for the parish community. In collaboration with the Parish Priest and a small parish ‘team’, CCR will help plan and facilitate the first of a series of regular, accessible retreatsopen to all, with the aim of enabling all parishioners to participate in a retreat once every year or two years. CCR work
with the parish and offer the first retreat. We will then support the parish in developing this opportunity further themselves (either using CCR or inviting
other retreat givers) over a planned period of time, eg...

One-day retreat (10.00 - 4.00) followed by two or three similar days
in a year (eg Lent/Advent/Pentecost/Patronal or other Feasts)

Or

A ‘Two-evening plus Saturday morning retreat’ (Thurs & Fri 6.30 - 9.30pm,
Sat 9.30 - 1.00) followed by two or three similar opportunities in the year

The parish simply provide a meeting room and the church and a willing group
of parishioners to help. Eg. provide a simple supper together for an evening, a shared lunch during the daytime. This retreat is a great way to build relationships and deepen commitment in the parish community, as well as the personal
spiritual benefit for individuals.

The course will include:

What is spirituality and spiritual companionship?
What support do we need? What do those we accompany need?
Our own experience of being listened to
Foundational: Prayer in a busy life
Variety of approaches
‘Tool Kit’ for accompanying others

Sp3 Christian spirituality in  film, art, literature, & music
(choice: 1, 2, 3 or 4 sessions)

Choice of one to four session retreat/workshop linking contemporary culture in
film, art, literature or music and the sacramental imagination/development of faith. This exciting new workshop is tailor-made to your group or parish group interests, and can be one session or up to four sessions exploring images of Christ in film, pictures, poetry and prose, lyrics and music, and relating it to faith and life.   Participants are asked to bring examples in these genres that have touched
their own spiritual core.
